Somerset House is located in Aldwych, in central London. It used to be the site of the national registers of births, marriages and deaths, but these are now held at the Family Records Centre in Clerkenwell.
Nowadays Somerset House houses the Courtauld Institute of Art, other arts collections, gift shops, cafés, and a restaurant. In mid-winter it has an ice-skating rink, and it is used occasionally as a venue for live music.
