Well I've just reached Level 3 and I was told when I did so I would understand the significance and value of the points in YA. So why am I still in the dark? Is it that I am a hopeless Dummkopf that doesn't know Freudeschade Weltschmerz from borscht? Or was it all a scam?

Well obviously I don't know "Freudenschade" from Schadenfreude." Pardon my French.

mank: Apropos your penultimate remark (the one that preceded the alcohol overcoming you), George Santayana, the great 20th century philosopher and poet, once said, "Fanaticism consists in redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim." That being the case I think I'll have a wee nip myself now.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven [levels]. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

So buck up, you're no longer a whining school-boy! Now, the lover (=level 3) can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but at this point he discovers the tunnel is more fun than the light.

Now, I'm pretty sure if you ask somebody at level seven, they'll say, "Been there; done that." So enjoy level 3 while it lasts.

Soon we'll reach the point, they say (fat round belly, full of wordy saws), where we realize that points are not the point. But by then we can't remember what the point is. (hic)

So have another drink, Falstaff. The joint is out of time . . . er . . . that is the point is . . . (hic) . . . Never mind . . .

Yahoo is trying to build a knowledge base like Wikipedia, but it is not working. The point system forces you to participate in both an upstream and downstream level. You have to contribute to get any answers. I have a couple of questions I would like answered so I saved up a few points, but after that I don't think I'll participate any more. When you look in Arts and Humanities and see Harry Potter, you have to tell yourself the something is wrong with the Quality Assurance of the program. But it was fun while it lasted.

I've been stuck at level 6 and I haven't found the meaning either. I've made some good friends along with way, but my life won't be complete until I hit level 7.

Hon~ being in the dark is a good thing. For if you knew what the meaning of this answer game was you might not play any more!

Can you tell me what is the significance too....I don't pay much attention to the points now, other than it just fun. Kind of neat to play with. But if you find the answer....let me know.

Simple, because everyone else is in there no matter how they justify themselves...and you cannot be without others who will justify also your existence ....You doing the same...
