The airport has changed since last year but one of my sisters says they were able to go to duty free before going to security last year, i have been to palma airport in majorca before and i'm sure it is the same in any airport that you have to go to security first. Any help would be great as i am dying to prove her wrong!!

I can say with 100% certainty that last year you were able to visit the Aldesea store before gong through security last year. So sorry your sister is right.

You have always needed to show boarding car for any purchase, although they are not officially duty free for inter EU flights.

some airports have a duty free before customs, but the same rules usually apply (show tickets or boarding pass) in some countries the shops before customs are not strictly duty free.

i've seen both actually. at JFK in New York, the duty free shops are available outside of the security check. but to buy, you have to provide your boarding pass (indicating international travel), pay for it, then you pick it up at the security gate just before you go through. this is because you're not allowed to consume the items in the country where you bought them, but rather only at the destination.
