This is how I did it:
In the upper right hand corner you'll see the link: My Q&A
Click on it.
You'll then see your empty Avatar Box where your picture will go. It also shows your points and level. Under that you'll see a small link that says: Edit My Info
It'll take you to Edit My Profile. The second section is: Picture with 3 options. The third option is Use my Yahoo! Avatar. Under that is the link that says: Edit my Yahoo! Avatar. click on that.
From there you can flip through several different options. Be sure to save it and go back to select: Use my Yahoo! Avatar in the Edit My Profile section

Where it says hello (your user id), you can click on your user id and under where it says about me, click on edit my info. From there you can choose your Yahoo Avatar to show as your profile picture or create one to use.

you go to www.yahooavatars.com then threre will be a place to sign in then it will say do you want your avatar to be a boy or girl then you click one of them then you can dress him/her and get backrounds halloween costumes it is soooooooo much fun and when you want to change him/her clothes you just go back to yahoo avatars or on Im you click in the corner where there is a pic and it says costomize yahoo avatar and it will take you right there..........

Go to your Profile and it should say something like 'Edit Info' or whatever. Go there and it'll say 'Get a Yahoo Avatar' or something

Click on your yahoo mail sign, then click on the gray box that is you face now and that will give you your options.Appearance etc.

When you edit your yahoo account you can add a graphic to your name. This includes e-mail as well.
