I think the stupid rewrite of the Phoenix storyline was the biggest problem. Reducing the Dark Phoenix (by far the most powerful foe the X-Men ever faced, involding the Sh'ar empire among others) to merely a class of mutant was just a travesty
That and Famke Jansenn seemed WAY too old since the first movie...
The Angel was underused, but whatever- Kelsey Grammer made a very good beast, and they got Shadowcat right. Much worse was Magneto's final ultimate attack being throwing cars that Pyro set on fire?!?!
The "deaths" were no big deal; as the post-credits scenes showed, everyone survived (Professor X in a new body though)
In different countries they showed different endings, one where Jean's grave was empty and one where an Optic beam burst out of the lake...
Apocalypse would be great as the main villian in a seperate X-men movie, maybe one where they had to team up with Magneto and all the other mutants.

I agree with you totally. X-men 3 sucked hard. They killed off Cyclops because the actor jumped ship to do the Superman Movie. I'm still not sure why they took away Mystique and Magneto's power (so very lame) and the way they killed the Phoenix was retarded....There were so many great characters that were just there in the background that they didn't use at all. I still think that all x-men movies were missing a very important x-men......Gambit!!!!! where the hell was he at?!?!?!? I probably won't buy it on DVD, i think they really dropped the ball on what could've been one if not the best comic book movies ever!!!!

ur right, most important mutants lost all their powers but it can't last forever. as u see at the end that Magneto starts to get his powers, so maybe that the other mutants-will get theirs back eventually. It doesn't matter about Angel really. Of course ur favorite mutant is Apocalypse because he's powerful, that's why u like him, I like Magneto

X3 was sort of a transition to what HAS to be the next set of movies in the series. Of course you waited until the end of the credits to see what happened with Professor X in the hospital, right?
There is much room for more story development using the X Men characters, including Apocalypse.

I agree it could have been done in a much better way. In my mind, they should be moving closer to continuity with the comic, not further away. Doesn't Marvel get script approval? It makes me wonder how bad they are going to botch Venoms appearance in Spiderman 3. You know they aren't going to do the whole Beyonder, Battleworld thing don't you. They could have made 3 movies just on Secret Wars I, and gotten Venom right, but I think they just want to cash in on Venom and do it quick instead of right.

It was alright, but they've tried to pack too many characters and story lines into a few movies. There was so much more to the Phoenix and all the stories presented so far. But then, that's what you get when you try to put decades of a comic book onto film.

I agree that X3 was dissapointing, but it didn't suck completely. My comments on your 3 reasons:
1 I agree.
2 Before he was Archangel, he was just Angel.
3 Apocalypse? Maybe, But what about Onslaught?

1. I agree, they killed off most of the X-Men that anyone cares about.
2. He is an X-Man I do not care about, so it is irrelevant.
3. Eh, they did have to find a way to bring Famke Janssen back...she was hot.
