The smell would be as sweet, but the perception not so. They might be the same, but I do believe we are shaped somewhat by our names. Particularly if you have a unique name. It makes you feel special and you are treated a little differently than someone with one of 10 most popular names.
If a name is changed mid-life? Not so much change. However, it may have more meaning for the person changing their own name - the butterfly effect.
Great question!

A rose just sounds better to the ear, but will always smell just as sweet. My loved ones personalities would not change if their names were different, but maybe the meanings as i interpret them would change my perspective on who they are. I dont think it would change relationships.

I would still feel the same for my husband, family members, etc., regardless of the name. However, I have read studies where the names of students have affected how the teacher reacted to them, and also potential employers. They had folks fill out forms with the exact same answers but with different names. The authority figure scored the acceptable/favorite name better.

I think that your name makes you in a sense. As we grow up we kinda do choose our name. Some of us shorten it, others change the way we say it. Ill tell you right now, if my girlfriend went by her middle name, I doubt that we would have dated.. I know its mean, but her middle name reminds me of another person, and just kind isnt a good memory.

Well, some people say that what your name means can sometimes be how you act, but what about the people that don't have a meaning to their name? Those people that have strange names that are not used everyday, they have their own personality. I believe that that is true for everyone, not just the people whose names mean nothing.

I agree. Certain names have special meanings depending where you come from. It might be by tradition or customary, depending on your ancestry. I think it would be the same, no matter what the name is. It wouldn't change your relationship with them either.

As a wise person once told me, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet- unless it was called a poop rose."

The name is just a tittle, it does not determine who you are or who what you want to be. I would change my name in a heart beat if i had to but that would never change the person be hind the name.

A name is just a name. Its the person behind the name that matters.
