just like any sport, there are playoffs and there has to be a champion. That's baseball's championship. No different than Hockey's Stanley Cup, Football's Superbowl, Soccer's World Cup, Baseball's NBA Championship, etc.

The World Series is the Championchip series for Baseball, like the Superbowl is for the NFL, the Stanley Cup Championchips are for Hockey, and the NBA Finals for the NBA.
So the big deal is that the World Series winner is the champion of Major League Baseball each season.

It's something Young boys dream about forever. You have the American and National league.. They play each other to see who the true champion is. Go Tigers.
