i think they are a short term fashion trend, among women who want a minimal dressing solution. they have been known to be uncomfortable as well as unflattering to most women i polled from size 2 to 22.
as an alternative to thermal underwear in the winter, nothing is easier to remove, when wearing a dress or skirt to work. but as a long term fashion mainstay i don't think so.
1. the leggings are easy to tuck into boots. 2. they aren't as bulky under skirts as pants would be and allow for quick removal once a person has arrived at their destination. i think the same (that they are a short term fashion trend) about the skinny pants, bootleg and super low rise jeans.

They won't last long as a trend, but they won't disappear from the stores either.
They went out of style for the same reason then that they will this time: they just don't look good on most women. So women don't buy them enough for it to be worth the companies efforts to make them. So they won't be in for long (or at least I'm hoping since I hate leggings.)
Even though they have been out of style for years, you would still see the occasional women (usually the ones who shouldn't wear them the most) in leggings in places other than the gym. So legging will still be available in some stores, just not in fashion.

i am praying they are short term, because the only people i have seen wearing them so far should really be wearing mumu's! Some things went out of style for a reason!

well for the fact that nobody wore them for a while......then i wore them like three years ago, so they're out for me,b ut since people cant seem to be original........im gonna say they're gonna be in for just a litttttttle longer.....with some fluctuations to the appearance,,,,then forgotten for another how many years
