If you are a devout catholic yes, it would be called a sin. If you're a reasonable person who thinks about how their choices affect their life and the lives of others, it is not in the least bit sinful.
In many circumstances, an abortion is perfectly acceptable.
Would it not be better to abort an unborn child than to let it be born and be left in a trash can because the mother cannot care for it?
Isn't it more correct to abort an unborn child if the mother has a disease (think HIV/AIDS) that she will undoubtedly pass on to the child, forcing it to suffer through a painful, though short lived, existence?
I see no harm in aborting a child if its life on earth wouldn't even be worth living. And if you believe in heaven, and that a fetus has a soul, just remember that it's unborn soul would die painlessly (assuming the abortion is done properly, no beating it out of existence with a baseball bat please) and then carry on to heaven anyways. You could even say you're doing it a favor.
Take this from a previously Catholic person, there is no true definitition of what is a sin and what isn't. People commit so called "sinful" acts all the time, and they are always told that God will forgive them if they Confess. People take advantage of this because the church always tells them that their hearts are in the right place if they're Confessing, though most people know that this is not the case. What really decided for you if it is a "sin" or not is what's in your own heart.
Okay, that sounds tremendously cheesy, but you catch my drift anyways. Abortion is a big descision to make, but by no means is it sinful in my book. I don't understand how a religion so obsessed with helping people and saving them from pain and suffering would have the nerve to dub an act of mercy "sinful".

If you have an abortion just to escape the fear of being pregnant, then it isn't a good enough reason at all. However, there are some women who have a real health problem, where they might even die if the baby isn't taken from their body. If you have an abortion because you are extremely sick and your health depends on it, then you should really do it. The saddest thing is when women need to have an abortion or they have a miscarriage when they really want their child.

It really depends. If it is an early abortion due to the health concerns of either baby or mother, than no it is not. If it is for the sole purpose of an unwanted pregnancy due to an "oops" conception. Then yes, in my opinion, it is. I have had a lot of friends who have done both...some had an abortion, and some gave up for adoption. Those who had the abortions said they felt like they had sinned, like they had killed their babies. I would imagine, if you or someone you know is trying to decide whether or not to have an abortion, I would recommend adoption as an alternative course. Unless there is medical reasoning otherwise. Good Luck and Good Question.

Its hard to say. people have many different opinions about abortion. In My opinion I dont think its right to get a abortion if you are pregnant. I mean why put your self at risk of getting pregnant if your just going to kill it. Now If you were raped or something like that then maybe it would be a good idea. It just depends on what kind of situation you are in.

no. Only to those good little Christians who have had their morals shoved down their throats by dirty, child molesting pediphile priests and cheating ministers.........It's not murder because it is not a viable human being. It's a FETUS - NOT a baby. a fetu is actually a "parasite" accroding tot he body and the mother is the "host" without the mother pumping blood into it - it can not survive on it's own.......just because it has what resembles a heart beat doesn't mean it's a fully functional heart.......... once it becomes a baby and can live on it's own without the mom then it
s a different story......by that point the mother has had plenty of time to make a decision........

Yes it is! If you kill something then that is a sin because the Bible says "Though shall not kill". Abortion is killing a little unborn
baby. No one but God should take a life. Just think that little life might be president someday.

What do you think? I think it is your choice to decide what you want in your life. It cannot yet think and live on it's own, so in my opinion, you are not killing anything but a cell. You have many living cells in your body that you kill when you smoke, drink, do drugs. But it is ultimately up to you and how you feel about the situation. Ask some women who have gone through it. Not just one, try 5-10. Hope this helps. Good Luck

NO!!! why have a baby if your not ready. i had two abortions cause i wasnt ready. god understands that your not ready. i could have no more kids. i can barely support my son and myself. im a single parent and its hard. i support abortions if you do it with a good reason and if you learned your lesson about unprotected sex. next time be more careful.

YES! You are about to kill a human being that is your own flesh and blood. Bore the child and maybe raise it or leave it in a foster care home, when you feel you want to see him/her again adopt her from the foster home.
