a program named "BIGFIX" keeps popping up on my computer ever since I downloaded the 2007 "NORTON INTERNET SECURITY" saying it needs to install something (I don't understand what) to make my system more compatible with the norton program. I just wanted to know if I could trust it. My comp isn't acting right since the download which is why I'm thinking they may be ligit. Also is "BIGFIX" part of a program named "McAfee"? I believe that program came installed from Best Buy
Thank you,
Charlotter

For one thing, I have had horrible experiences with Norton. It actually crashed my entire computer once. Per Best Buy Geek Squad, PCcillin is the best on the market right now. You can get the 2006 security suite from www.royaldiscount.com for under $20.00 with free shipping. About BigFix. Here is a tidbit.
BigFix is a program that can intelligently detect and correct all kinds of problems on your computer, usually before they get a chance to mess up your computer. With BigFix, you are protected from known bugs, security holes, and problems caused by outdated software, letting you do more and crash less every day. BigFix usually runs in the background, monitoring your computer for problems and conflicts.

Some people don't like it and it won't hurt you to uninstall if you are comfortable running windows updates and things like that.

The first interesting result I got is http://www.bigfix.com/ . They make a powerful system security package which may have been included on your computer when you got it.

I'd say it seem pretty safe to allow it but I would take a look in "All programs" to get more conviction. If it's there, it's not likely to be spyware.
