Does Mexico not know history or are they just that dumb?

Question

I have seen this on the net and on the news. The Mexican government keeps talking about taking the United States to the UN security counsel about us building a wall ON OUR SIDE OF THE BORDER.

Now get this, “Mexico's president-elect Felipe Calderon said during a state visit to Canada, comparing it with the Berlin Wall.”

That is were my question comes into play. Can anyone tell me how this is similar to our current situation? Because last I check the United States of America was a sovereign county and so was Mexico. Did we become one great city that was ripped apart by a coalition of other counties?

I just can not see the comparison. I am not saying weather I want the wall or not. I just do not understand how a country and its leaders could get there history horribly wrong.

Maybe if they would have fought in WWII they would be better educated today?

I would not say that you can not blame a nation for the mistakes of their leaders for something like this. Because this is what their leaders ran on to get elected in the first place. The people of Mexico are to blame for electing a historically challenged government.

So true, I couldn't have said it better myself, well maybe a little better. Mexico is ignorant when it comes to matters of politics and foreign affairs, even their own. This border wall is simply a way to control the illegal migration of mexicans and others who use the mexiacan border for unauthorized access into our country. There is no similarity to the berlin wall. Build it up as fast as possible.

Ok, I was not going to respond to this question for personal reasons but the shear stupidity of the replies is astounding to me so I had to attempt to mend the Historical record.

First, Mr. SteveUK. You are correct; America was making a LOT of money off of the war. However, the people in this country did not want to get involved in a European affair. So we did not directly join tell we were attacked, but we did help in many ways. If you need help in that department then I suggest that you go back to your elementary program and try learning it again. Furthermore, I agree with you, the United States should have entered into the war when it began. Unfortunately, we thought that one of the strongest nations could
handle the problems that they created (it was your country’s, along with France's, fault that war even got started in the first place. So if you guys would not have messed up so badly then you might be a stronger power then you are now.

Also, Mexico was defeated by the United States. We dictated the boarder and paid them for the land but in the end we did take it by force. I do not know how you can see this as them kicking our butt. But hell you brits are dumb any how. I guess if you think that Mexico kicked our butts in that war then the British won our revolutionary war.

You also cited some information on the UN. Yes the security counsel was stopped by the United States. Conveniently thought, you did not mention that China supported our decision, probably because they are building a wall along there border with North Korea. I do not see any Mexican officials even addressing that issue.

You should also know that the world views your country as our lap dog right now. So if we are conforming to Israel then you would be as well.

It appears to me that the only thing that you got rights was the year that WWII started. I don't think that you should attempt to sway any one on education anymore.

You are a moron. The Berlin Wall did separate a city. It was, and is, know as Berlin. The Berlin Wall was part of the "German Democratic Republic border system"
which separated the two parts of the county. The whole wall system was not called the Berlin wall that is just ignorant.

I was unaware that Reagan wanted to stop people from leaving the East Berlin and East Germany. I am pretty sure that Reagan wanted the exact opposite. One thing for sure is you need to start taking your medication and go back to sleep.

As for Mr. Justis’s English. I seriously doubt that it is any worse then mine. However, does that take the truth away from what I am saying? A fact is a fact even if you do not spell it correctly. If your argument on this issue is so week that you start attacking the grammar of the person posing the question, what have you accomplished? Stick to his question not how he ask it, I would appreciate that if I were asking a specific question.

I am a history and politics buff not an English buff.

Maybe if America had fought in WW2 they would be better educated, it started in 1939 yet America didn't notice. Probably because they were milking it financially.
Secondly, didn't Mexico also kick your butts in war? Amazing how educated you think yourself.
The UN also ruled the wall the Israelis are building as illegal, but the US prevented any action. How long till the USA becomes the second state of the United States of Israel, as you're now copying their politics, fighting their wars, and paying their taxes?

I'm not saying "weather" (note, I'm copying your mistake) this question is valid or not. I will say that a whole nation of people should not be judged by the mistakes of their leaders. I hope folks from other countries do not make that generalization since I'm an American.
