Unlike many who will answer your question who will attack or support you using only opinions and telling you in terms of what they want other than what is likely, I will attempt to approach this question from a nonpartisan viewpoint and address the issue. The similarities you've laid out with the Regan campaign are unmistakable, and yet another source we can turn to would be the congressional elections of 1994 that gave the Republicans control of congress that has continued to this day. It was a sweep in anyone's eyes, and somewhat unexpected. It served to hinder many of Clinton's aims and goals throughout the rest of his term, much like a Democratic Congress would do to Bush for the next two years. A state we need to pay close attention to would be Tennessee, and the Senate race between Corker and Ford. This race, like the Virginia race and others, is surprisingly close, especially for a Southern State. Most of my colleagues believe that the House will be taken by the Democrats and the Senate will remain Republican, by simply one or two seats. But now recent polls indicate the Republicans are actually starting to gain some ground as we move closer to Nov. 7th, and some are suspecting they may actually survive the elections. I suspect the Democrats will not take control of the Senate simply because of the many problems they've faced in the past 12 or so years, especially with splintering and a further left platform that typical, which the Republicans have used against them. However, we cannot forget the many scandals now plauging the Republicans, especially Abramoff and Foley. It will surely be an interesting and intense election, and I'm sure many people on both sides are very concerned about the outcome.

Gosh I hope not!
The Democrats have not changed enough to be let back in power
The Dems are still a mixture of all the out-of-the-mainstream political groups. God bless the gay people, but there is not enough of them to build a plank in a major party of a 2-party system. And the abortion plank needs to be pulled, I think its pretty much been settled with safe, legal and RARE. Other parts of the Dems platform appear to be pandering just as bad as the Republicans Big Business pandering, but without a positive economic impact.
I hate the way the Republicans have become HUGE deficit spenders!! But I have not heard of any Democrat ask for LESS spending, just different spending
I hope this election rattles both parties into changing. The USA will have the hugest amount of retirees ever, keeping SS solvent and reducing health care costs need to become the TOP Priorities of both parties. That way the American public wins

That more or less depends on the Electronic Voting Machines. No paper trail is not a good thing. We have a strange, albeit antiquated system. It consist of a ballot, with the candidates names on it. You take it into the booth, with a pencil(Remember them) and you mark an "X" by the name of your choice. Then usually, by the 7:00am news the next day, you know who won. If needed you have the ballots to do a recount. I know the US has 10 times our population, so hire 10 times the returning officers. Even if it doesn't go your way, not living with the doubt that something crooked has occured is well worth it.

The house it is likely. Democrats are favored in several states that are now republican. They have ties with the republican canidate in at least a dozen other races. They are competitive in yet two dozen more race where the republican canidate is favored. If democrats were to win every race they are competitive, they would gain over 40 seats. Republicans need to keep at least 3 out of 4 of those seats.
Democrats only need to win the seats where they are favored, half of the tossups, and a couple of the two dozen races where republicans are favored.

You'd be surprised how many die hard republicans are out there considering that I'm an optimistic democrat. I sincerely believe that democrats will rule in the next elections but I just can't believe the balls and audacity of some republicans to continually praise and support this man after his irresponsible actions which have caused more death and destruction than the 9/11 attack.

I think that the democrats have a tough challenge ahead of them. The republican party simply has a larger campaigning budget, and I think that the democrats with the small budget that they have are going to have to fight for what they want, escpecially if they want control of the senate and the house.
I just that next presidential election turns out to be democratic.

Well the latest "October Surprise" with Mike J Fox has been exposed as a fraud, I would think the country is tired of all these lies they are purporting on the nation. Since they don't have much of a platform besides "hate Bush" I can't see them sweeping much besides the floors of the polling stations after they close 12 days from now!

I really hope not, I am a registered Democratic, but lately I just can't stand their politics, too liberal, and what they want to change could be drastic for all of us, remember Freedom is not free and we have to protect this country, of course I am not in favor of this way (who Is), but would we want what is going on over there to come here, No!! If we did not stand up to Hitler, where would we be today, our children and grandchildren have to live in this country, and I always remember the saying "The Eagle Will Prevail", and I tell my children that, I think if we put people like Hillary Clinton in charge we are in deep trouble.
