When you have truly enjoyed a book, or magazine article, do you ever write to the author to tell them? Who have you written to? Did they reply?
I did this when I was a student, and remember being quite excited to receive a letter in return. Nowadays, I use email.

Dean, that's great. An autograph on paper seems more real than an email...
Mr. Baxley, I looked at your website and I'm very impressed. It's also kind of you to asnwer all fan mail, and to encourage young authors.
DreadC, Wow, a signed print of the cover, what a treasure! I think writing to relatively 'undiscovered' authors is more fun... to say, 'please write some more of that!'... He probably treasures your letter, too. My sister once wrote to JRR Tolkien, back in the 1960's, before LOTR had become a big hit in North America. She received a hand-typed and signed letter. Hmmm... I wish I'd thought of doing that!
wiwat, I've wondered about that too. Perhaps when an author becomes a bestseller, then the staff might have to answer the mail?
Ginger/Vi, Nice souvenir.
bill hantz, Thanks for the info.
Call Me Babs, Perhaps your feedback helped that author with their next book.
