No, i'd never send one, but i did get one from my girl friend one time. I was wounded in WW II, in France, then sent to England for recuperation. The Drs. tried to save my left foot, but had to remove it.
When i wrote and told the GF about it, she wrote back, telling me not to call her if and when i returned home! WOW-What a blow that was!
But, i managed to recover, got back home, and she wouldn't talk to me, either in public, or on the phone!
So, i never spoke to her again! Met and married another fine lady! And recently celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary!

I've seen it and it sucks. A man/woman has enough to worry about without this on their minds. It's one of the most cruel things that can happen.
I believe there should be a law, just like an employer keeping your job, to stop them from doing this.
Granted, it's hard, sometimes very aggravating in this day now that they continually keep activating and reactivating the troops. It's hard on the spouse at home too, granted but, if the person in the war area can handle it than the person at home should stay there, at least make it look honest and then settle after the troops come home.

I didn't, but my daughter wrote John Denver several times. When she was three, she could print her letters (but not spell of course), so she would dictate letters to me and I would tell her what letters to print. When she was finished each time, she would make me read it back to her to make sure it said what she wanted. He always sent her an autographed picture - which she took to Show 'n' Tell when she was in nursery school then kindergarten - this went on until she was six. Other kids wanted toys for birthdays or Christmas, she wanted his records/tapes, and shirts with his picture on them. She would take naps so she could listen to him on the radio when he was on live (early 70;s). When a neighbor told her that he was married, she wouldn't have anything to do with her for several months. She was 25 when he was killed, and she cried for several days.

it is the worse thing u could do to a person who is putting thier life on the line for our country, i personally would never do it because i know that that person has hardly no contact with people back home and the letters they recieve our the only things they have to keep their heads high. letters from home mean more to people in the service than the average hello, how are you...it is the key to their sanity. once again HELL no..i would never condider it even if i wanted to break things off with that person,
good questions tho b/c people our faced with this problem everyday

My husband is in the navy and many of his friends have received these letters. Personally, I would rather have it done face to face after he got home. Some people may mistake lonliness for love and that is not always the case.

No, i have not and would not. My husband served in Iraq and I never dreamed that up in a million years. My friend at the time, however, did that to her husband. She met someone online and left her husband for the other guy.

When I was in Desert Storm (the first one in 1991). A fellow solider that was there with us got a video tape from his wife. It started out by her saying honey I have a surprise for you and then it cuts in with her doing another man in their house. Now that B*^!ch was cold.

I would never do something like that, they have so much to worry about without the worry of the one they dream of being with someone else.
