Hi! I am just curious as to this new RFID device they are putting in credit cards and cell phones in China/Japan. Does anyone know what company markets this? How can one invest in this company? Thanks! I am new to investing and just curious and would like any advice!

RFID means radio field identification and detection. This device was forcasted to be the thing of the future, especially during the infotech boom days. It helps Stores to plan up their inventories and shelf strategies basically marketing, from a distant place and computer. Companies like WalMart use this intensively in tracking their goods being coveyed across different states and countries. If we are going to have a change in paradigm with more emphasis on infotech in Marketing and Logistics then RFID is a good investment. There were many companies doing this in the past and very many coming up all over the world. Try internet to find out more of these.

RFID is a new technology, it may replace the BAR Code that we see on products on super markets in future.

RFID eables retailers to track goods in their warehouses and in transit as the RFID tags on the products can transmit signals and they can be tracked without scanners.

There has been a lot of buzz about this new technology from past 3-4 years, but i don't see main stram adoption in the near future. What i mean by that is - you might not see RFID in WalMart in the near future, but there are many adopters of RFID. But i am not sure how far it is good from a investing point of view. I would wait and see how things shape up. But having a close watch on the sector is good, some of the links which can help you do that are
