Hey, Steve.

If its an exterior stair, the best no-slip treatment I've seen is a product called 'Safe T Deck' (or something like that). Its a paint on coating that's carried by Porter paint dealers. I treated some concrete stairs with it in Florida at a condominium, and after two years it showed no signs of wear. And, its very slip resistant.

They fit on the steps where the tread meets the riser , u should be able to get your finger in the gap between them , the one on the tread has the writing on it so u can read it , the riser has the writing upside down. There should be a half inch gap at either side of the walls to tuck the cpt into.they nail on.Just in case your not sure the tread is the part of the step u stand on and the riser is the vertical section at the back...hope this helps.

What do you need to know ?? Its short batons usually of wood with nails sticking out which are placed where the back and the tread of the stair meet to stop the carpet from wrinkling or slipping off the stair.
