I had a missed miscarriage. Doctor talked me into D&C. She punctured my uterine wall during the procedure so she couldn't finish. This doctor said the hole was very tiny and should heal on it's own but I'm still pregnant. And I have to wait two to three weeks to either miscarry naturally or take medicine to expel the abnormal fetus. I am so upset. Has this happened to anyone? Did you have a baby after? Should I sue? She was in a hurry (was hour late for appointment and had to pick up her kids). She admitted to puncturing it because she said that my cervix was so tightly closed. I'm still confused. Getting a second opinion tomorrow with another doctor, but I just want to know what happened with other women in the same predicament. Please help!

that's just terrible i'ld be so ANGRY. My doctor adviced me not to do a d&c with my non viable pregnancy he said most all non viable pregnancies pass on there own by 12 weeks. I lost mine at 10 weeks at home. I only had a ultersound to confirm everything was gone. He said he never dose a d&c as a 1st option on women who still want kids because of the small risk of complactions.

I had a missed miscarriage a few months back and had a d&c. Before the doctor did the procedure she explained fully the risks involved including possible damage to the uterus, bladder or bowel. You then have to sign a form to say you understand the risks and you are happy to go on with the procedure. Was you not told about the risks beforehand? You should have had pesseries inserted into your vagina at least an hour before going into the operating room. This should open the cervix to make the operation less surgical and invasive. I would get a second opinion from another Dr or surgeon. If you was explained the risks involved I'm not sure how much of a case you would have. Its your word against hers about her running late. I know you still have to go through the trauma of having a natural miscarriage and I feel for you. I have had a missed miscarriage and a natural one and they are both upsetting and difficult to deal with. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you have a speedy recovery from your trauma and surgery.

Ok well i have only been in one part of this situation i had a misscarriage and had to do a d&c but that was my choice he said i could wait it out till it passed on its own or do the d&c thats what i chose i would defanily find another dr i wouldnt let her touch any of my kids cause if she will do that what else will happen if she is to busy and just like pulls a baby out of you just cause she is in a hurry and does damage. I would talk to a laywer but i dont know what the chances are of sueing. I dont think she should have pushed you to do that. And your cervix should have been opened with meds so it should have been tighly closed. That dr is ignorat!

I would say sue the hell out of her. I mean her being in a hurry for an appointment and picking her kids up.... should have reschedule the D&C rather then botching it. Get another doctor before she ends up causing you to have to have a hystorectomy (?sp).

Honey Im so sorry for your loss and also for what you are going thru now. I've never been thru that but I do think you should sue!! how irresponsible is this dr!! she put her interest before the patient welfare....even if it was a tiny hole you really don't know what the consequences are gonna be....SUE HER!

Rather than asking non-physicians on a non-medical website, try contacting a new OB/GYN for a second opinion. Dont be scared about doing it, just do it for your own sanity. Good luck to you.
