This raccoon is not afraid of humans and is out during the day. At times it has kept me indoors and won't let me out of my mobile home. I've been told by the owners of the park that it is my responsibility but since I pay "lot rent" I feel they should be taking care of this. I reside in Davenport, Florida and trappers want $429 to trap it (which I don't have). I'm unable to find anything pertaining to this at the Florida Fish and Wildlife website. Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

The owners of the mobile home park should legally have to remove the possible rabid raccoon. Why? They will be liable if the raccoon ends up biting somebody on their property. Can't they understand the place is always teeming with children on a daily basis? That's why they need to take care of that problem as soon as possible. Plain and simple, isn't it?

Your lease will outline who is responsible for that kind of thing, though usually it is the responsibility of the owners. Call the Dept. of Conservation or a similar animal control agency. They will do it for free.
