In this world cup 2006? None of the Brazilian players looked like they were trying. Instead of perhaps avenging their loss to France in 1998, they looked lifeless on the pitch. What do you think? And, if you agree with this point, how much money would Brazil team have been payed to be convinced to do something like this? Please, do not think I am bashing the French team, they have great players in their own right, and Zizou's name will forever be inscribed into the history books.

No. Look it wasn't just that one game where their form was missing. As much as I respect Brazil and it's ability to continually produce world class players, they had an abysmal tournament. They were ill prepared and a tad complacent. Sorry, but that is just how it is and on that day France lifted and Brazil didn't. Honestly, Zizou tore them apart. They needed to control the master, they couldn't and they failed to respect what he could do. I truly enjoy Brazil but half the problem was ego.

Reading some of the other replies leaves me with a thought. France was not their only poor showing. Even though they won other matches they did not do so convincingly. So one would have to ask "were they paid to throw the tournament", as losing the match to France eliminated them entirely. The answer would still be no. No team wants to be eliminated from a WC, especially one who was going for a 6th title. The pride their supporters have in them would not allow them to compromise their pride and principles.

How can you say that?!
Look I'm not even a fan of Brazil although I like the kind of spectacular football they produce, but I can't even dare to imagine such thing after I saw the pain in their faces after the match and their tears as well.
Brazilian footballers more than others don't need money they are being payed high ammounts of money by their clubs coz of their quality.
I know thinking this way makes Brazilian fans feel better coz it somehow justifies their bad performance during the WC but it doesn't show the reality of facts. Brazil had a bad performance in 1982 when they were in the same conditions as this year, they were the absolute favorites to win and they lost as well...Were they bribed then? No. They had some problems coz they are human beings, they aren't perfect and they can't always win. Their problems were evident since the beginning but somehow their victories at first covered them. Remember if that wasn't for 1 goal of Kaka' they were going to draw their first WC match against Croatia. People could notice till the start they had some problems coz players like Ronaldinho, Adriano etc were out of form, Brazil seemed to have started the WC too convinced of themselves etc. I can't understand why a fan of Brazil should think that way, you should know how important is football for Brazilians, it's a sort of religion for them and if they enter the pitch praying God to help them win like this WC, believe me they would never think of bribing or disgusting things like that.

well i donot think that they were bribed bec like someone here said that these players are multi millionaires they really donot need money but i do believe that there was something wrong with brazil this world cup in general not just the french game look at ghana's match they didnot play well at all and may be if ghana didnot fear from brazil big name they would have beaten brazil i think that the reason for this low performance for the brazilian team was that they were playing without passion for their country unlike the french team who was very passionate and wanted to achieve something in this cup and so were the italians , the german and the portuguese as well that is why iam happy that dunga is the new coach as he seems to be a very serious coach and very passionate and if he finds anyone in his team who doesnot have a passion for his country he throw him away from the team

Hard to bribe multi-millionaires.... that's what most players on Brazil are making playing professionally in Europe.

I mean what could they possibly offer as bribe that these millionaire players don't already own???????

This Brazil team reminded me of the USA basketball team.... full of egotistical superstars and not enough role players who do all the dirty work.

I don think so. Who would wan to tk money instead of fame? Frankly speaking, u wont want history to happen if u are a brazillian. Frankly speaking, brazil players are a bit too proud of themselves. They lost to France is becase they had too much confident of themselves.

Believe it ornot... here in my country, punters will given tips by insider to bet on France winning by more than 1 clear goal... so i guess something muz be wrong since Brazil were very talented and favourites at tat point of time... France were playing at home but still the form and talent of Brazil will convince most punters to back the Samba kings yet the tips received were to back France to win in normal time by more than 1 clear goal...
