Emo is short for the word Emotional. It is a genre of music, art, poetry etc.
Emo music is music that is inspired by emotion. It's not always love songs, in fact a lot of emo bands can be pretty intense. H.I.M. and Bullet for My Valentine are like a mix between Metal and Emo.

EMO was an underground music that began in the mid 90's that was famous for bringing out the deep emotions of the listeners. it has since been a catch phrase for any whiney band that comes along that wears eye make up and sports fauw hawks. wikipedia has a good write up on it.

emo means that you hate people that when they dont understand something... they will hate it. emo is finding out that pain is yet another emotion, but one to be enjoyed.

This is info from my 13 yr old daughter ...emo..emo-tional. They are kind of like goth only not as hard corp. same kind of look in alot of ways , sometimes a lil bit diff. musical preferences..ie.. the not as hard corp. part.
