I would need to now what motherboard/chipset you are using to know exactly what you could upgrade to, but just based on what I know you could upgrade to any Pentium 4 that has a 533FSB, but probably not one that has an 800Mhz. Also you would have to get one that uses the same socket. If you want a more precise answer, email me with your computer model or motherboard model or chipset number, and I can tell you. if you have a 2.53GHz your are using a p4 so you can go up to a 3.2 GHz for about $90 make sure that your power supply is a p4 one though. and the your motherboard supports it.

if u want to upgrade ur pc only P4 with speed more than 2800 can be suitable but also it depends on ur mother board chipset check it and then u can decide
and for P3 its will not be upgrading it will be downgrading :)
