Come on people, everyone knows Michael J Fox suffers from Parkinson's Disease. His disease might be cured using stem cell research and of course he is opposed to this senator who wants it declared illegal. I support his action completely. For him it might be too late, but millions of people suffer from this terrible disease and the deserve a chance to survive or be cured.

I think it's great. Very well done and in-your-face, makes you think without being preachy. Having a family member with Parkinson's I can tell you, that's no act. Michael J. Fox was just showing what the meds that treat his disease do to him.

Anti-abortion supporters don't see anything wrong with shoving pictures of dead babies in our faces so I don't know why showing footage of someone suffering from Parkinsons should be so shocking. And I know the stem cell research issue isn't the same as the abortion rights issue but a lot of fundamentalists are trying to make them the same thing.

I think Rush Limbaugh is a bloated sack of wind who loves to hear the sound of his own voice but rarely has anything of importance to say. And I think Michael J. Fox's response to Limbaugh's attack was very classy and well-done.

Rush is upset that his former poster boy for the GOP (aka Alex Keaton from "Family Ties") betrayed the GOP by making the ad for the Democrats.

If Michael J. Fox was honestly full of it - he would still be on "Spin City" and other TV projects. He made his money from Hollywood - Muhammad Ali has the EXACT same symptoms as Fox; However, Ali as a Muslim cannot make a political ad in favor of stem cell research.

I heard what Rush said the day he said it. What he said was he had never seen M.J.F. in that condition before so he questioned whether he was acting or had not taken his meds. He also said he has seen him on Boston Legal and he was never swaying like that. He then went to a commercial break. When he came back he immediatley said he recieved calls and emails from his listeners that they have seen him like that (I have too). Side note - when acting, M.J.F. will do things to minimize the tremors - like keep his hands in his pockets, incorporate the tremors in his movemnts, etc. M.J.F. has also admitted in his book that when he wants to emphasize the effects of Parkinsons, he won't take his meds on purpose. Rush then admitted he was wrong for saying what he said, and sincerely and profundly apologized directly to M.J.F. Unlike most of you, if not all of you, I heard it live. You're probably only getting portions of it from Howard Stern or Michael Moore. He made a mistake, he admitted it, he apologized, now move on with your life. He also said the type of stem cell research M.J.F. is talking about is NOT the kind that will help him. It's the same thing that created Dollie the Sheep, and is human cloning, so Rush was wondering if M.J.F. was duped into promoting it. And just FYI, the Gov't isn't opposed to Stem Cell research, they're opposed to paying for it. Clean out your ears. Here's the link to the sound byte. Listen for yourself.

Leave the man alone. He has a cause and I applaud him for that.
For those who think he was exagerating, they ought to live with that disease for 1 day, shame on them. Once the critics walk a mile in Fox's shoes they will know wheather he was exagerating or not. I personally think that if there was a more compelling argument for stem cell research watch Fox try to get his message across

Even if he were acting, he gets the point across that stem cell research needs to be passed to find a cure for Parkinsons. I don't see what people are making all the fuss about. And Rush Limbaugh should keep his mouth shut.

People with Parkinson's disease do act that way; my stepdad had parkinson's and that's how the disease affected his movements. He was not like that every second; other times he would "freeze" or "get stuck" as he tried to walk from point A to point B, other times he would move and jerk continuously. It's a well known fact that Michael J Fox had been diagnosed with this disease for years. It gets progressively worse, so I believe that is the way it is really affecting him.

It's manipulative and dishonest. He deliberately went off (or went OD) his medication to exaggerate the effects of the disease. It's also shameful because the Democrats have used him (and he allowed it) to lie to sick people. In no way will voting this amendment into law improve anyone's life because it ain't about stem cell reasearch-- it's about abortion. You can only get embryonic stem cells from aborted babies, and that's the real agenda-- to promote abortion. As usual, Democrats have to lie and camoflage their genuine intentions. They cannot get elected if they are honest.

Another thing: This ad was taped beforehand. It was not live. The producers WANTED MJF to look like he did for maximum emotional effect. Democrats have to appeal to emotion over fact to get their agenda through. This ad is phony, phony, phony from the get-go. Adult stem cell research is already legal and on-going in Missouri. Embryonic stem cells injected into the body harm more than help; it's a medical fact. Again, it's all about promoting abortion. Know the Dems for the liars they are.

it's funny, all the people i have heard or read saying he was 'acting' or deliberately adjusted his meds are right-wing talking heads and their devotees...every doctor, or person who suffers from the same illness, or has a friend or family member in the same situation, that i have hear or read about, has said that they believe his mannerisms were genuine symptoms of the disease...i believe the attacks on him are mean-spirited, disgusting, and completely illustrate the point that there is nothing too sleazy for the right wing...

i think it was legit. rush limbaugh is accusing him of going off his meds for the sake of the ad but he said it was actually a result of taking too many meds. but, in my opinion, even if he did intentionally go off his meds to make a point, good for him. that is the reality of his disease. if it that's what it takes to get people to wake up and accept that stem cell research will save lives, then more power to him.
