The debate over the Corn Laws split the Conservatives (Tories) in 1846.

The Peelites (initially led by Sir Robert Peel) were a breakaway faction of the British Conservative Party, and existed from 1846 to 1859. They were characterised by commitment to Free Trade and a managerial, almost technocratic, approach to government.

In 1846, the USA had FAIR trade deals that benefitted our nation, and helped us grow!

Today, we have free trade, that isn't fair. It's hard for the USA to compete with a country that pays people $1 an hour.
