#1 Egypt is much more developed than the majority of other Africian countries. Check the stats below.
#2 Egypt has a strong relationship with Israel which has helped with the west but hurt them with the Muslim world. Thus the bombings.
#3 Egypt is considered very very low in the pecking order in the Muslim world. This keeps Muslim country dollars OUT but also makes the people not well accepted into the Muslim community like the Gulf countries or other middle east countries.

Much of it lies in Religious differences and political power. Many arab countries follow a more traditional line with little desire for outside influence. Politics also plays a role due to this religious line. The government stays with the traditionalist role and with that avoids the political wrangling with other countries. If you have all that you desire, why deal with the hassle?
