i read somewhere that there is more of (human) females

If you're talking about people, there are more females.
More males are born than females, but males are prone to dying earlier.

Males
Because in China and certain other countries, they are allowed only 1 child, and they only want sons...so they are "killing" the females. They probably have the largest population but who's counting.
Just think in 18 to 20 years, how the Chinese and other people will have to import ladies to marry.
If you kill the female babies, who will the boys mary.
The joke will be on them with not enough females to go around.....otherwise they will have the largest gay population in the world!!!!!
....and Mother Nature will not be too happy to help them!

At birth, there are slightly more males than females.
Because males tend to do the dangerous jobs, they tend to die younger. By old age there are more females.
What I wanna know is why males have to do the dirty work.

I've always heard that there were more females in the world. No kidding, seriously. I've heard that repeatedly during my life. I'll bet there's some census internet site that would tell you.
