M dad enrolled for a payment plan from our gas company, Nicor. The payment plan ended up being double what the actuall bill would be and they have $1300 more than what the acuall bill was. Now, they refuse to give the money back.

you need a lawyer with those idiots- i actually lived in a place that a previous tenant owed them over a thousand dollars and they came in and shut off the gas on me. It was november and the gas was used for hot water and my stove. I was forced to move out because it was hard to eat and sleep in the cold. they would not listen to me at all and I spent at least 24 hours calling them 10 different times. They would just transfer me to other people. (this was their Naperville office)

anyway i would recommend he get a cheap lawyer to give him a quick consultation to see if it is a good idea for him to go to small claims court.

Have your dad talk to the company again. have his receipt or the statement saying exactly how much the payments will be. if the company does not comply with your dad then he needs a lawyer. there may be some fine print that your Dad over looked ..
