just go to control panel and check it in system

Go: Start / control panel / performance and maintenance / then double click on system.

Under the general tab of the system properties there is a description of the processor, RAM, etc. if it does not recognize it there then you need to install the memory again, biggest stick in the primary slot and if it is not DIMM pu the other stick(S) in slot 3&4

Just right-click on "My Computer" and choose Properties. It shows the total amount of memory there.

when your system boots up it does a memory check
open your eyes and you will see it count

crucial.com will tell you how much memory you have, what kind, and in how many slots.
