We're all aware that the flu virus can lead to complications like upper respiratory problems like pneumonia, and you can die from it. But can the virus kill you by itself, without contracting complications?

The deadly flu virus shall have its toll on the old and the frail, like the infants, people with lowered immunity due to retroviral illness (HIV), etc. It will be because of the complications only that the virus will and can cause in these persons, because of their lower resistance, that death will ensue.

I don't think so, its usually the complications that can be fatal, good luck
