I read the last answer and Singapore is NOTHING like New York City - I'm 28 and was born and raised in NYC and I can tell you that Singapore is not as fast paced and the excitement of New York City DOES NOT exist here. I'm here to make some money and enjoy Asia.... otherwise I don't see the life I had in NYC EVERRR happening here. Please be aware that you can not hold dual citizenship in Singapore so wherever you're from - you will have to give up that citizenship there to be a citizen here and unless you come from like Cambodia or the poorest third world country - it's really not worth it AT ALL.

Life in Singapore is fast-paced and bustling, similar to the major cities of the world like New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo and London. Singapore is most similar to Hong Kong in that aspect, with both cities being major financial centres with predominant Asian cultures.

The standard of living is moderately high with regard to the average salary drawn, but residents enjoy a high quality of life nonetheless. Singapore is a multi-cultural society, so foreigners should have little problem blending into their new environment. Singapore is also mostly crime-free and is not affected by natural disasters, making the place one of the safest in the world.

The most common way to become a PR is by contributing to the economy via a full-time job, afterwhich application for citizenship can be made. The process will take a few years, and there is no guaranteed outcome.

If you have good income, you could get a terraced house, but if you are in the middle income, you will have to live in a flat or condo unit which could be as high as 17 to 20 storeys or even higher. Living is convinient, public transportation is excellent, but owning a car is definitely expensive! Foods are great! Sourrounding is very clean. Laws and authorities are strict.

Becoming a citizen? I think you must be a PR first then you could apply for citizenship. Being a citizen? Well if you have a son, He gets to serve in the armed forces or police as part of national service.

then you will have to speak Sing_lish.

Wah Lau we!!!

born n bred here.Singapore is a very safe and peaceful country indeed. but still we still have uncivilised people who spat in public, litter everywhere and people who jus dun have basic manners like queing for buses and not giving way when boarding trains. The service standards in Singapore are also known for being not so good which are needed to be improve.Food-wise, there's a lot of varieties u can choose from bcos of our multi-racial society. Anyway Singapore is a developed country and the cost of living here is very high. Claimed to have a good transportation system, i still thnk there's a lot of room for improvement. Overall i give singapore 6/10.

I am a permanenet resident of Singapore. It depends on what you are after in life. In terms of career, this would be a good country if you are a go-getter and looking for experience. In terms of bringing up a family, you will have to weight the life style and famlily life .. and what is important to you.

As it relates to citizenship, the advise I would give is to take residency first, take a few years and then decide. There is no hurry or incentive to take it up. But you have to becareful of certain "unique" pitfalls in this. As an example, as a first generation PR, you do not have to perform national service (ie. 3.5 years full time service to the Army, Police etc) but your children (i.e. son) will have to even if they are not Singaporean.

I am a local here. Life for me is pretty much a routine and I find it pretty bored sometimes but there are also things to appreciate for (such as food and shopping). I believe you have to stay or work here for a while before deciding if you want to settle down here permanently. check out the immigration website as well to find out more information on becoming a citizen.

deepnds on what sort of life you are looking for. The lifestyle is very fast pace and stress. if you can take it, then you can consider coming over here to be a Permanent Resident

In terms of security and safety, it is tip-top.

However, it could be boring if you are staying for long as Singapore doesnt have much places of interest and life is dull.

And also the standard of living here is VERY HIGH!!

You'd first need to improve on your grammar ! Then try to get a job here and then -maybe- you can apply for Permenant Residency.
