i have an extreme fear of flying. ive only flown once in my life, and i was a wreck. it just freaks me out to know that so many things could go wrong, and we are so high up. and if something does go wrong, we are so far from help....that just scares me a lot. also, the claustrophobia feeling doesnt help at all.....

why are you afraid? airplanes are totally safe, is it that you're afraid of heights, don't get all freaky about it, just relax, look out the window and appreciate the good view. if you still are afraid, confront it head on, fly excessively, take fight lessons. you know there's a better chance that your car will crash in your driveway when your not even in it, than a plane crashing. you know what this made me think of, I saw this thing on the news that there will be a space station that operates as an airport in the year... I can't remember what year it said that'd be, but I know it was between 2013 and 2021. well I'll stop talking before I start to ramble.

I don't have a fear of flying as such. More a fear of being couped up for hours packed in like sardines in a large metal box travelling at 100's of miles per hour with no chance of a smoke, no real comfort and crap food.

A fear of crashing... well that's different.

I personally love flying but my best friend is petrified. Last year we went to Benidorm from Belfast. As soon as we got on the plane she buckled her belt and got out the safety card to read. The flight attendant was passing and my friend called her over. She told her to go and see the captain because there was water getting in on the plane. I couldn't breathe for laughing as it was just condensation. After that she made us watch the safety demonstration as she held onto the card for dear life. The best bit was when she said she felt a bit safer knowing there were parachutes under our seats??? I didn't have the heart to tell her we didn't x x x

Fear of earache from flying, fear of sitting next to an idiot for hours, fear of airplane food, but not fear of flying itself.

No fear! Flying is cool.

Being in a car is more dangerous. Only today I had some teenage jerks aim a rocket (firework) at my car while I was driving it. I could easily have swerved and killed someone.

I'm terrified of flying, i used to do it at least 3 times a year when i went away with my parents. Now that im old enough to choose what i do, i will NEVER get on a plane again. I hate the whole experience of it.

Yes, i agree, it can be a scary experiance. But there is an extrermely small chance of a plane crashing though........ just remember that.
If you've ever flown before, and you hated it...... fine, but you should try it again, really, just a short flight. Go for it.
If you have never flown before, it is not that bad, really.......... i used to have a fear of flying....... but i got over it.

some tips.........close the blind, try to sleep and dont eat, unless your on a long haul flight...

Hope this helps.
