There are technically 35 sports between the Summer and Winter Olympics, but there are nearly 400 events.
Within each sports, there are various events. For example, in the Winter Olympics, the sport of skiing includes: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, nordic combined, ski jumping, and even snowboarding.
