If you do a SEARCH INSIDE THE BOOK on amazon.com in Bambi by Felix Salten, you will see that she is only referred to as "Mother."

we can't forget Mother's ultimate sacrifice. I honestly think that if she were selfish and abandoned Bambi in the meadow, she would have survived. But no, she saved Bambi's life, even though she knew that it meant her own death. I don't have a single favorite character, but I must admit that Mother (that's what I'm gonna call Bambi's mom from now) was a very special doe
