G'day Ashton G,

Thanks for your question.

My suggestion is Stuck in the Middle with you by Stealers Wheel.

Its first verse is:

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Stealers Wheel was a Scottish folk band consisting of Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty. It was a top 10 hit in the US and UK in 1973 but the band broke up in the mid 70s due to musical differences and failure to follow up on its initial success. Gerry Rafferty had another smash hit as a solo artist with Baker Street in 1978. In 1992, the song found new popularity after Quentin Tarantino used it in Reservoir Dogs. The track is from their 1972 album Stealers Wheel. Other good tracks of theirs to checkout are Star and Benediction.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

A couple of people have mentioned "Stuck In The Middle With You," which sounds like it could be the right song. The people who say Bob Dylan did this song are wrong: It was written and sung by Gerry Rafferty, when he was in a group called Stealer's Wheel. It was a hit in 1972 and it's a pretty good song.

A couple of rock/pop songs with "clown" in the title are "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson and "Everybody Loves a Clown" by Gary Lewis and the Playboys.

Stuck in the Middle is by Steelers wheels not Dylan. Dylan does reference clowns in "Like a Rolling Stone". Something about the jugglers and the clown do tricks for you.

Not clear on what exactly you're talking about, but you did mention clowns. I'd hazzard a guess with "Stuck in the Middle With You" By Stealers Wheel. Lead singer is Gerry Rafferty.
