It is possible you have a problem that I have had with drinking. I get acid reflux alot when I drink. Next time try taking a prilosec a few hours before hand and see if that prevents it. Read up on acid reflux and see if you suffer from some of the symptoms.

Was the drink carbonated? If it was, then you had carbonation bubbles built up, and the air got trapped. Drink a soda and try to burp. I had the same problem with drinking beer some time ago.

It sounds to me like you were having a bout of severe acid indigestion. I can't drink any mixed drinks that are acidic (like orange juice/grapefruit juice) nor can I drink too many with cola as the hangover is nasty. But that is my blood sugar.
If it happens again, try a Tums, should work.

could be. i mean ya say that you dont drink that often. so if your system isnt used to the alcohol even though smirnoff isnt that strong, you could still be feeling the side effects of bringing in too much at once and way too fast.

If you were in a bar that allows smoking and you don't go there often, it may be the smoke that is bothering your stomach and esp. throat. Just a thought.

if you're talking about the smirnoff twisted (flavored malt beverages), i know plenty of people that get sick from that. it's carbonated like soda, and way too sweet. if it's something your body is not accustomed to, it will fight it. just drink water and get rest..and don't drink sweet drinks anymore!
