Are you using a rectal thermometer? They are the most accurate.Anything 104 and up is considered a high fever...the doctor will tell you not to bring a baby to the hospital with anything lower than that UNLESS there are other alarming symptoms--inability to wake him, loss of appetite, rash, or the fever persists for 3 days. Luke warm baths, dress him lightly and Baby tylenol administered every 4 hours (or baby Motrin)until the fever is normal for a whole day is what our pediatrician told us.Everyone goes through this and it really stinks the first time your newborn gets sick...Good luck!

First how high is it? It may seem high to you but a new borns temp always runs a little higher than say yours. Call your pediatrician and see if they want you to give him/her any tylenol. Most likely they will say no because the fever is fighting what even sickness he/she is getting.
Strip the baby down to just a diaper, you can also try some cold juice/water, or a luke warm bath. You just want to make sure yo don;t bring it down to quickly.

How high of a fever? If under 103 use Tylenol/acetaminophen only. No Ibuprofen or aspirin. Try cool/lukewarm washcolths. If higher fever than that you should call the pediatrician.

Call the pediatrician. They might want to examine the baby to make sure it isn't anything serious. Luke-warm sponge baths are good or if the fever is very high alternating infant Tylenol and infant Motrin is recommended. I found from personal experience that infant Motrin works better.

Infant Tylenol, dosage based on baby's weight. How high is high? May I suggest using your pediatrician rather than the internet? You are obviously a brand-new first time Mom and your Dr. should be your first resource in regards to your baby's health. Fever in babies can be very serious, causing seizures, dehydration and a host of other complications. Please call your Dr.

Even if the high fever is less than six months old, your baby is not used to it. Since she is very delicate, a visit to the doctor is indicated. I would NOT wait for the fever to be more than six months old.

there many over the counter meds for this but you best take the babie to the doctor before it has damage to its brain or worse. a high fever in a babie is an indication that there is something seriosuly wrong with it and requires imediate medical attention. nuf said.

I would say take him to the doctor. You can give him tylenol too but just to be safe I would take him in unless he just got his shots. I wouldn't give him a cool bath, maybe a lukewarm bath but a cool bath could throw him into shock if he has a high fever.

My dr said it's okay to give a half dose of infant tylenol, BUT...I was told if the fever is over 101 degrees, take them to the dr....just to be safe, I'd at LEAST call your pediatricians office and see what they want you to do... Good Luck to you!!!

Call your pediatrician. babies with fevers tend to dehydrate very quickly. Don't worry about being an overprotective parent on this one. Call now!
