If you want to transfer the files from a dvd to your pc(not a movie) simply copy paste the files...
If you want to copy a movie to your pc you need a programm like Dvd shrink http://www.dvdshrink.org

You only need a dvd writer to transfer files from your computer to a dvd disc.
I suggest you to buy a dvd writter they are free now. About 35$

yes. you can copy the image of your dvd in your computer.but if you have laptop you can burn it only with dvd writer program.but some dvd's movie like from bluckbuster they luck the dvd you never can write it.

yeah as long as you have a dvd rom at least or some other way of copying the disc
