Where do I drain the engine coolant from? Is there some kind of plug underneath the car?

If possible I would like the specific location from somebody with experience...I don't want to unscrew something and get oil pouring out instead of water!

I need to remove the old coolant for a fresh topup with antifreeze.

It is a 1.2l ecotec 16v engine.

Why do you need to flush out your coolant system ?FOR £1 You can check if you have enough antifreeze in your car, from your local car spare`s shop , this is a strip of card you dip into your header tank and it changes colour ( you get a little chart with this ) compare the colour to the chart , and if you do need a top up simply take off the cap on the header tank ( where you fill it up with water) take out the water using old rags or an old sponge , top up the header tank with just antifreeze replace the cap then run the engine until the thermostat opens , the water will start to circulate then, the antifreeze will mix with the water already in your engine . This way you do not have the worry of getting Air Blocks in your engine that may cause it to over heat ! The only time you should change the water in any car is if it has had a head gasket problem and the water is contaminated !

ont he bottom of the rdiator there should be a petcock(yeah its a stupid name). It'll look like a valve with a wingut on the end . turn it and it should start to come out. make sure you sue the same coolant that came out of it to go back in. ie Dexcool
