I really dont want any lectures about how much better a country or the world would be without it, as long as there are people, it's not going to happen, rightly or wrongly, so my question is to those who have no religion, which religion would you feel more comfortable living side by side with, and why? Will you be honest enough to answer truthfully?

Buddhism would be preferable to any theist religion, choosing your own path has its merits. Some areas of China have Confucianism, which allows a greater freedom of thought, and like Buddhism has had many of its tenets stolen by Christianity. Some would consider both Buddhism and Confucianism, NOT to be true religions, I wont debate that here. Both of these religions have a more meaningful philosophical content, far less dogma, and allow for individuals to find their own path. They do not preach, claim to have all the answers, hear voices, talk in tongues, kill witches, have Holy wars,or hate their rivals, and aspire to genuine pacifism. They also encourage education and understanding, and do not fear science.

I think people with plenty of material goods don't need religion. It appears people with nothing at all require some hope and that takes the form of religion.

I would live next to anyone who does not force me to believe in what they believe.

I don't like shifty people like those wearing veils they obviously have something to hide and Saddam had 6/7 lookalikes, the only reason to do that is to protect himself. Why protect yourself if you are a good person who believes in what you are doing. He knew he was a bad egg.

Religions that dictate to followers, which is most, get on my nerves. Let people just be nice and believe in being nice. What about starting a new nice religion. No arguing

when people create a religion that is based on tolerance and acceptance AND these rules not just preached and are followed, then sure I'll be more than happy to greet and be associated with them. As of now..I do not believe this religion exists. I avoid anyone who isn't atheist or agnostic. This way Very rarely does the subject come up. It's nice not to be "Talked to" about religion..it always turns into more of a lecture than a conversation.

Hmmm, good question! I've gotta say that I'm quite happy in this country which is predominantly Christian/becoming Muslim - but only because it is essentially a free society in which we are free to believe whatever we wish to.

Oh. Sorry. This question doesn't apply to me.

Let's see ... if I *were* an atheist, I think I would prefer to live in the South of France.
