Suicide is not a felony in Missouri - nor any other American state. But in l984 the Missouri legislature passed a one line law (565.023.1(2), RSMo) stating that anybody assisting in suicide (or self-murder) was committing a Class B felony, which is punishable by five to fifteen years imprisonment. In its twelve years existence, nobody in the state had ever been tried for the offence, nor even investigated; thus there was no case law available for review.
Just so you know....it is NOT against the law for ME to kill Myself...it is against the law for YOU to Help me kill myself... that would be assisted suicide...

Attempted suicide was a capital crime in England in the olden days. Not anywhere else AFAIK, and not recently.

Yes, if you fail to kill yourself, the state will do it for you (at great expense to the taxpayers).
