You must be preparing for a shot. Just suck it up. The needle really doesn't hurt, it's the liquid that sometimes burns. It might not even hurt. Don't harp on it hurting. Maybe the doctor will give you a lollipop before to take your mind off of it? And no, I'm not being sarcastic about that. Just don't think about it my dear.

Oh, gosh do I have needle dilemmas too. Well, hold somebody's hand, get some Silly Putty and play with it, or clench your teeth together.

This is how it works: They take a little bit of skin and pull it up between their fingers and put the needle in. It feels like a little kid pinching you lightly. Then they push the liquid through, and it feels like a rush of water, and a little sting. Just a tiny one. They pull the needle out, and it's over. Even though i know it doesn't hurt, i am still scared of shots a bit. Your arm will be numb and feel heavy for like 2 hours, but that won't hurt at all. Don't worry about it.

It depends on where the shot is. You can think about other stuff. The big thing is to relax when your about to get it. Most people tense their muscles and get all stressed and that makes it harder for the needle to go in. Don't grip a friends hand or anything. Just try not to think about it and let your body relax. The person administering the shot can do some stuff... maybe pinch the area your getting a shot gently while they are giving it.

Try holding a conversation with the person giving you the shot and look them in the eye. It helps to relax you so your muscles aren't tight, which is the big part of what makes the needle painful going in. If you are smiling and talking to the nurse or doctor, you also don't notice what they are doing, so it's done before you have time to react.

I assume you mean an injection and not from .38 special or something. Take a few deep cleansing breaths. Exhale normally just before the shot. I hate needles.

Bite down hard on something. Squeeze something with your hands. Ask them to sedate you. Or just try your hardest to ignore it, it'll all be over soon anyhow!

If you are old enough to drink then have a couple belts before you go. Just don't drive yourself.
