What any of us say, will not help you. The best gift you can get an 11-year-old is something that HE/SHE WANTS...not what a bunch of strangers on Yahoo Answers "think" he wants.

If the kid is a boy ,I think a robot toy would cheer him up or if the kid is a girl an original barbie doll would be a nice gift for her.

CASH. Roll up a bunch of one's and wrap it with a band, that way he will think he is pimpin. Or if you want it extra fancy, buy him a cool azz money clip. Clip it and flash it....
