I'm 35. Am I too old for pills? Is it better with the patch? I want something that hinders fertilization, so I dont want an IUD and rid myself of fertilized eggs every month, if you know what I mean. It's a moral issue for me. So, anyone in their 30's or even older who can say what they use? Then I can ask my doctor with the ideas I'm given.

I'm married. Abstinence or Celibacy isn't an option.

The patch would be good as long as you are not smoking or are at a high risk basically what applies to the pill applies to the patch. However my experience with the patch was that I hemorrhaged for the 2 months I was on it with HUGE clots TMI but everyone is different.

Nuva ring I havent heard of enough people experiences to tell you much about it besides that you must remember to remove it on the 3rd day and its like the pill in side effects etc..

The IUD I have a question for you if I dont get a period then how can it be aborting fertilized eggs? My cycle is stuck between day 7-21 I go thru the mucus changes high sex drive PMS but no period and no ovulation. I have Mirena though

The reality is that scientific do not know how exactly both IUD's work but they do know that it works and has a failure rate of 0.1% versus sterilization which is a 0.5% failure rate of 0.5%

Diaphragms and cervical caps along with condoms and spermicides might be another option for you.

I highly don not recommend the Depo shot. I went thru a horror story as well as many of my patients its either you love it or hate it just be aware of all the pros and cons as well *** all the side effects

What about the ring? the Nuva Ring? Keep in mind that ovulation is part of our sex drive, so if you're married you might be putting a strain on that part of your relationship if you start up w/ different hormones. Sponge w/ spermicide is good or condoms, although not always work against pregnancy (just ask Jack, my 2 year old, he's the condom baby). Good luck..

If I was you I would at least go to the link I sent you about the IUD. I have it and love it. I was torn with moral issues myself. I"m 39 with 5 kids.

These days, abstinence isn't a bad choice. If you just can't help your though-----condom for him and perhaps depo vera for you.
