Why in the heck would you want your car to be loud? Like these motor heads that like their mufflers to sound loud. Is it cuz they want attention? I think a softer sounding car is a whole lot nicer.

A low restriction (loud) muffler is USUALLY part of a performance PACKAGE, that makes the car run MUCH better. A lot of these loud Civics will embarrass some V8 powered hot rods, and Corvettes too. Some of those mufflers are there, as you say, just to make noise.

Should everyone be forced to have quiet cars simply because it's what YOU like?

Personally I think the engine noise of a nice V8 is a beautifull sound, but tiring.
So with that said, I'm with you and like the soft sound of my car.

The civics with big exhausts, are trying to make the car appear to be powerfull like a V8. I guess you could say their compensating

Besides looking for attention they might be problems with hearing or tthey think it is fashionable. car manufacturers do their best to create quiet, smooth running cars, which some people misuses by changing them.
