For me it has to be John Lennon's Imagine....i just wish this genius was still alive

My favourite line is when he sings: 'You may say Im a dreamer...But i'm not the only one'

Anyway, what is your favourite lyric/line in a song?

You want *clever*? Just about ANY Rush song, but I Love "Natural Science":

I. tide pools
When the ebbing tide retreats
Along the rocky shoreline
It leaves a trail of tidal pools
In a short-lived galaxy
Each microcosmic planet
A complete society

A simple kind mirror
To reflect upon our own
All the busy little creatures
Chasing out their destinies
Living in their pools
They soon forget about the sea...

Wheels within wheels
In a spiral array
A pattern so grand
And complex
Time after time
We lose sight of the way
Our causes cant see
Their effects

Ii. hyperspace
A quantum leap forward
In time and in space
The universe learned to expand

The mess and the magic
Triumphant and tragic
A mechanized world, out of hand

Computerized clinic
For superior cynics
Who dance to a synthetic band

In their own image
Their world is fashioned ---
No wonder they dont understand

Wheels within wheels
In a spiral array
A pattern so grand
And complex
Time after time
We lose sight of the way
Our causes cant see
Their effects

Iii. permanent waves
Science, like nature
Must also be tamed
With a view towards its preservation
Given the same
State of integrity
It will surely serve us well

Art as expression ---
Not as market campaigns
Will still capture our imaginations
Given the same
State of integrity
It will surely help us along

The most endangered species ---
The honest man
Will still survive annihilation
Forming a world ---
State of integrity
Sensitive, open, and strong

Wave after wave
Will flow with the tide
And bury the world as it does
Tide after tide
Will flow and recede
Leaving life to go on
As it was...

Eric Clapton, Running on Faith:

Lately I've been running on faith
What else can a poor boy do?
But my world will be right
When love comes over you
Lately I've been talking in my sleep
I can't imagine what I'd have to say<---my Favorite!
Except my world will be right
When love comes back your way
I've always been
One to take each and every day
Seems like by now
I'd find a love who cares, cares just for me
Then we'd go running on faith
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
When love comes over me and you
When love comes over you.

"A Man walks down the street, It's a street in a strange world. Maybe it's the third world, maybe it's his first time around"
from Paul Simon's "You can call me Al"

"I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"
from Bob Dylan's "My Back Pages". Could have chosen any line from this song.

"I've been lookin for a job but it's hard to find. Down here it's just winners and losers and don't get caught on the wrong side of that line. Well i'm tired of coming out on this losing end. So baby last night i met this guy and i'm gonna do a little favour for him"
from Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City"

"I lay me down, like a bridge over troubled water"
from Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge over troubled water"

The whole of "blinded by the light", written by bruce springsteen.

"I had a friend, i heard she died. On a needle she was crucified"
from Cold Chisel's "Cheap Wine"

Anything by neil young.

That'll do. lol

At this point it would have to be from Counting Crows "Mrs. Potter's Lullybye."

If dreams are like movies
then memories are just films about ghosts

May not make perfect sense but makes you go "HMMMMM".

Any fan of John Lennon is alright by me
"One thing you can't hide, is when you're crippled inside"

In the Beatles song 'Yes it Is' John Lennon sings the line '

Red is the colour that will make me blue'.

Also in Beautiful Boy he sings

'Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

There are so many that I like, but the first band that comes to mind is Weezer (I'm talking about old school Weezer. The Matt Sharp Era - The Blue album and Pinkerton. Their last couple of albums are horrible, but their first two are brilliant).

Particularly the song "Pink Triangle" (great title) from Pinkerton - "I'm dumped/she's a lesbian/ I thought I had found the one./ We were as good as married in my mind/but married in my mind's no good."

Also, Undone (the Sweater Song) from The Blue album - If you want to destroy my sweater. Pull this thread as I walk away. Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked..."

Or, "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here" from the Blue Album - The world has turned and left me here/just where i was before you appeared/and in your place/an empty space/to fill the void behind my face/i talked to hours to your wallet photograph/and you just listened/you laughed enchanted by my intellect/or maybe you didn't

There's also "El Scorcho" from Pinkerton - "How stupid is it/I can't talk about it/I gotta sing about it and make a record of my heart/How stupid is it/Won't you give me a minute/Just come up to me and say hello to my heart/How stupid is it?/For all I know you want me too/and maybe you just don't know what to do/Or maybe you're scared to say "I'm falling for you"

And then there's my favorite "Only In Dreams" from the Blue Album - "You can't resist her/She's in your bones/She is your marrow/And your ride home/You can't avoid her/She's in the air/In between molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide."

Sorry, I got a little carried away. The more i analyze these lyrics I remeber how great Weezer used to be, and how much of a disappointment they became. They seriously stopped trying. I wonder how much of it is due to the departure of Matt Sharp.

1. Are we wasting time, talking on a broken line/ telling you I haven't seen your face in ages/ feels like we're as close as strangers.
-Close as strangers by 5sos

2. Before we started it was over/ I feel our bodies getting colder/ she gives me a feeling that I cannot find/ and it's the road that leads to nowhere/ but all I wanna do is go there/ she's got me running from the daylight, daylight.
-Daylight.

I think DMX (the rapper) is clever. His content is questionable at times.. but still clever. My favorite line is "Listen, your a** is about to be missing... you know who's gonna find you? Some old man fishing" Questionable, yes, but clever nonetheless. I also like all of the lyrics in Sia's "Breathe Me" and Zero 7's "In the waiting line"
