Is it True that if your Pregnant and if you get Strep Throat your baby can die?

I heard that if you are pregnant and you get strep throat that it can cause you to miscarry. Do you know if that is really true?

Its unlikely but does happen. If you do get strep just go and see your doctor quickly.

I think that the only way it could harm your baby is if it goes ignored and by that time you would be so uncomfortable that you wouldn't be able to stand it. I don't see how a medically treated case of Strep can be fatal, so I go with the majority, not true!

someone probably misunderstood something they heard. If a women has an infection with beta strep type B when she delivers, the baby can become very ill especially if not treated imediately. I think it causes something like a severe pneumonia. This is one of the reasons that women are tested for this as they near the end of the pregnancy

the strep has to carry though the blood system in order for your baby to get it. and even then your more likely to get a defect.
go to the doctors so this doesnt happen

I had strep thraoat when i was 8 months preg. and it did no harm to the baby just go and see your doctor and he will put you on meds that will not harm the child and both you and the baby will be fine.

No it's not true. Only if you take certain pills to get rid of strep it can cause miscarriages.

I have never heard of that, I personally dont think its true. However, if you are concerned you should talk to your doc. about it to get the best advice.
