Yes, it does. You trusted your friend and then they go and stab you in the back. If a person you don't like did it though, then you'd probably be like, "Whatever," and move on with your life. With a friend though, it hurts because you trusted them. They were a good friend, or so it seemed, and you thought them to be a loyal friend, but instead...yeah. It hurts a lot.

it hurts more when a friend does something like spread rumors about because you trusted them but with an enemy or someone you don't care for you pretty much expect it so you shrug it off

People are people and they are a bad lot for the most part. You will find that throughout your life, people will act this way (most of them) and there is NOT much you can do to change this. It's human nature. Choose your friends wisely.

I think it hurts worse from a friend because its someone you like and when they do something to hurt you it makes you wonder. I'm sorry if that happened to you, it really does suck.

Lots of people don't have the same morals you do. Whether it be thats how they were brought up, or they just like the feeling, everyone is different. I think, if you expect everyone to be bad apples, you will be pleasantly surprised, rather then pissed and disappointed.

you are choosing the wrong friends. friends CAN be trusted; you are calling the wrong people friends. the good news is that you see it now. they were the right people for you to acknowledge the problem. build a bridge...
