Your dog either sees you as the meany or the push over , if your being to mean to him he's not going to want to come to you, and if you let him just walk all over you he's not going to listen to you, just find a happy medium and have your husband contribute too, if your husband acts like your dog doesnt need to listen to you then your dog will act the same

Totally opposite for me......my dog will mind me better than my kids. He will even pick up his towel off the floor and bring it to the laundry room. He listens to all of us...but really is a mommy's dog (we've had him since he was 5 weeks old, so I really am mommy to him). He wants to know where I am all the time. It seems my kids could care less sometimes. Good Luck with your dog !!!!

I think its the same with children and their first words if you actually see the child says Dad or whatever if the dad is not home as much and Mom if the mom is not home as much. I mean he sees you enough and when your husband comes home which your dog sees less thats exciting and like a surprise..dont worry..he still loves ya....i think (^_^)

No, my dog does the opposite. My husband tells him to do something and the dog looks at me and I say "okay" and then he does it.
It's pretty funny. I think it's because I'm the Queen of the Dog Dish--I feed them everyday.

Two questions: Do you let your dog sleep with you? Do you eat at the same time your dog does? If you do, then your dog considers you a 'litter mate' and will treat you like one - he loves you, yes, but he will pay attention to the one he considers to be the leader, or alpha, dog.

I have two cats, Roger and Benjy. Benjy was bottle fed by me and Roger, I adopted from the animal shelter. They both "picked" me and I love them very much. Benjy is a mama's boy and Roger has major attitude sometimes! :o)
When I was dating my now husband, my cat Roger decided that he likes my husband (then boyfriend) more than his mommy! So My husband is now Roger's Buddy! But Benjy is still mama's little boy!

It is all in the tone of voice used. Pretend, just pretend you are going to stab the dog when you are calling him, check his response.

My cats adore me when I first get home, or first wake up. They are under my feet like crazy. But the novelty wears off fast for them. Twenty minutes later, they could care less if I was dead or alive. Like they say, you don't own your pets, they own you.

My cat likes my sister more, and that makes me sad,but when she's not around he is super cuddly with me. Animals are just weird.
