Hi,

You need to use parenthesis. Try this:
3 (1/3) or (3)(1/3), both of these will give you the answer of 1.

If you need the answer of 4/3, then, you should plug in
1. (3+1) / 3 = 1.3333333333....
2. go to "MATH"
3. choose option "1"
4. press "ENTER"
5. now you have a fraction (4./3)

hope this is what you were looking for.

!!! I AGREE WITH ALL ABOVE !!!

convert mixed fraction to improper fraction. " / = divide "

ex. 10/3= 3.333333.........

ex. ((3*3)+1))/(3)= 3.333333.........

divide fraction and then add whole number. " / = divide "

ex. ((1/3)+3)= 3.333333.........

All in all, this highly sophisticated piece of equipment is programmed to perform mathematical operations, providing you plug in questions that are in T.I. 83+, T.I. 83+ S.E., T.I. 84+, and T.I. 84+ S.E. "format". (check manufacturers manual)

You can't do this. You have to put in 10/3. Or do as she says. Put in 1/3 and then add three.
