No it doesn't. You need to get Zone Alarm Free for a firewall. You also need at least three Antispy programs that provide full time protection. I recommend Windows Defender, SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search and Destroy (turn on Tea Timer for full time protection). All of the above are free, very good and can be download at this safe site.

Also see AVG from Grisoft. Running Lavasoft's Ad-Aware is a good idea. Avast would be my second choice but getting rid of Norton was smart, I did the same thing 2 years ago, used AVG since and not only did my PC increase its speed (Norton is a hog) but I have had ZERO problems, infections etc. One note about Zone Alarm for a firewall, should you decide to get rid of it the delete process is very difficult but as such it is the best firewall you can get for free.

You are a very smart person. I test antivirus program an antispyware program in my spare time to see if they perform as claimed. Nortons is the very worse junk out there for years. An each year they get worse.

You made an excellent choice. I use http://www.avast.com Avast in both of my computer an I never had one virus in over nine years. You will get automatic updates usually twice or three times per day. If you have your speakers on you hear hear a voice telling that Avast has just been updated. If you open any webpage with hidden embedded virus or spyware, Avast will come on with a voice letting you know the virus has been destroyed. (Always reboot your system if a virus is found).
Never had one virus in over nine years with this program.

You need an excellent firewall. I run Windows XP Prof., and their firewall only protects you from incoming rouge traffice. A firewall must protect you two ways. Incoming and outgoing.

http://www.zonealarm.com I use thier free home for personal use in both of my computers. Excellent program out of California. They will give you updates automatic daily an if a new version comes out they will inform you via auto, that their is a new version ready for download. You don't have to remove the older version has their software will remove an install the new version. Always perform a clean install. Don't let the software copy with you have in your system that you allowed from their older version. You want to give permission all over again to the new version for incoming/outgoing traffice, This is the safer way.

Excellent antispyware that I use. http://www.emsisoft.com This is an excellent company and you can download thier free version of A2 Malware program. They will ask you for your email addrss as the their free version will require a key and the paid version also requires a key. Both the paid and the free are excellent programs and scans all 175,000 objects in my system. I use the paid version and their background guard actually works excellent in stopping spyware in realtime. Plus with the paid version the updates are automatic. Otherwise both are the same technology. (Out of Austria).

You never want to use more then one antivirus program as this will cause serious conflict in your system. You can use three or four antispyware program, being that one usually does not find all or what another one will find.

Here is a second antispyware program that I use. Has been around long before any body ever thought of tracking cookies or spyware. They are out of Sweden. http://www.lavasoft.com Download thier free home use version. Ad-adware Se Personal.

Personally, I like Norton. I have tried McAfee. and that was horrible! i had a virus within the week. But if you want to stick with Avast, then make sure you have antispyware, firewall, and antivirus. Those are the major neccesities. If you don't have antispyware, which most don't, you can download Microsoft Defender for free. It works very well and is very dependable. Good luck with Avast.

Norton is a great program and my question would be why would you ditch for an inferior product. Mcafee is #1 and Norton is #2 as far as the top rated firewall and antivirus software companies. I think you have made a huge mistake.

I'm a computer techncian and I have done testing on many known invected computers. Nortons found 20, Mcafee found 19 and Kaspersky found 400. Another system had 0 infdcted files with Mcafee and 4800 (yes four thousand eight hundred) infected files were found with Kaspersky. Norton and Mcafee hold no light to Kaspersky. Try it for free and see for yourself. It will also target spyware too and has a built in firewall. Kaspersky.com
