Do you think she adopted because she believes in the cause or is she trying to keep up w/ the Jolie-Pitt's or trying to fix her image after the faux crucifiction controversy?

I believe Madonna is genuine in her desire to adopt that little boy. Madonna doesn't need the publicity. She's popular enough. I think she has matured and is now looking outward and wanting to do some good in this world. Maybe Jolie/Pitt inspired her, but that's okay. What I think is a crime is how those so-called human rights groups are harrassing that poor father and throwing the whole adoption plan into chaos. They are following the "letter of the law" instead of the "spirit of the law", and sometimes that is not in the best interests of the child. Certainly in this case it isn't. That child will have a better life and more opportunities than most of us here on Yahoo Answers. I say thumbs up to Madonna for graciously saving that little boy, and for all the other money and good works she's giving to that country.

You know, at first I thought it was. But thinking about it and seeing her on Oprah I don't think it is. Madonna has had worse cotroversies than that stupid crucifition stunt (you may be too young to remeber a lot of them!). And you know, I think all these so-called Human Rights Activists who call themselves saving little David from Madonna's evil clutches are complete and total hypocrits. As the little boy's father said, "where were these people when Daviv was starving in the orphanage sick with tuberculosis? Where was their concern then?" I say unless you're willing to lend a hand, you can't cry foul when someone else does.

Madonna just wanted another addition to her family.Africa is the poorest continent in the world, the chances of a child being adopted from Malawi are next to nothing.Madonna is providing him with the family he never had,an education, medical care, and regular meals. She has also donated 4 million dollars to Malawi for over 4000 kids to be able to go to school.I think she is a humanitarian with a good heart.

Publicity stunt. She always does stuff to get attention like the mock crucifiction or the coffie table sex book. I respect her for doing that but I think she's just trying to stay young.

The real point is, why does she and any of these other celebrities believe we should care? How does this impact our lives personally? Will these idiots give every single American in this country $100 if we pay attention to their REALLY LAME publicity stunts? No, I don't think so. We get NOTHING, but the "pleasure" of watching gifted people live and contribute to their own personal self interest.

No matter what I think of Madonna I can't imagine *ANYONE* adopting a child for publicity. It's Madonna, she doesn't really *need* publicity, has she ever cared about her image before? I think it's insane to say that it's all for publicity.

Maybe she just wants to adopt out of the goodness of her heart, did anyone think of that? Regardless, she will give the child a way better life than it has now. She's too old to have anymore biological children so adoption seems perfectly legitimate to me.

It's hard to say, but I do believe she is doing it out of the kindness of her heart. I posted a similar question and got heat for it, but I just think for stars they need to realize that they are under a magnifiying glass and they need to really step it up on terms of showing people who they really are. It must be so hard ya know? But Madonna, she's just a crazy girl like that, and I believe that her heart is big on this one.

Although there's lots of criticism of Madonna - and I'm certainly not a fan - there's never been any criticism of her as a mother. Her kids seem fine, and she seems to keep them with her a lot. Maybe there's another side of her that's into family.
